(WV News) — During the special session held in August, 2023, the West Virginia Legislature passed a bill allocating $25 million that was said to be to construct a new facility to house Pierpont Community & Technical College's Aviation Maintenance Technology program. More than a year later, progress on the facility has yet to begin. But local lawmakers have said the project is still viable and in the works. Gov. The $25 million intended for Pierpont's facility is listed as "Directed Transfer - surplus" that "shall be transferred to the Economic Development Fund."
